ANSO 308 Criminological Theory
This course describes the role of theory in crime scholarship. The purpose of this course is to examine the main theoretical accounts that explain the underlying causes of criminal behaviors. The course begins with an overview of the early classical and positivist foundations of criminological thought and then moves on to discuss more recent extensions of anomie, differential associations, social control, social disorganization, routine activities, deterrence, developmental and other theories.
