EDUC 435 Elementary Education Capstone
XL: EDUC 535 This course provides a culminating opportunity for students to integrate research-based knowledge and best practices skills from the elementary program coursework in an interdisciplinary capstone project. The project is built around the proposition that effective teaching is based on subject matter knowledge and subject-specific pedagogy, knowledge of one’s students, involvement of students in monitoring their own learning, reflection and action on candidate-based and student-based evidence of the effect of instruction on student learning, and the role of research and theory about how students learn.
PRQ: Passing score on the Illinois Basic Skills Exam or the Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP) or the ACT Plus Writing/SAT composite.
