Peace and Conflict Studies

College of Social Sciences, Commerce, and Education

Prof. Colleen Kennedy, Coordinator

Peace and Conflict Studies is an interdisciplinary field of study regarding the causes of conflict and violence, and the ways to resolve, manage, and control both violent and nonviolent conflicts at all levels—international, intergroup and interpersonal. The academic minor integrates theory and research on all levels of conflict, and direct approaches to conflict resolution such as negotiation, mediation and facilitation.

The minor in Peace and Conflict Studies complements other academic programs at Rockford University and would be especially helpful to students with educational and career goals in law, international affairs, social work, education, criminal justice, business and psychology.

Excluding ANSO courses, no more than two courses can be taken in the same discipline.
