EDUC 436 Secondary & K-12 Capstone

XL: EDUC 536 This course provides a culminating opportunity for students to integrate research-based knowledge and best practices skills from the secondary and K-12 program coursework in a capstone project. The project is built around the proposition that effective teaching is based on subject matter knowledge and subject-specific pedagogy, knowledge of one’s students, involvement of students in monitoring their own learning, reflection and action on candidate-based and student-base evidence of the effect of instruction on student learning and the role of research and theory about how students learn. This course should be taken the semester prior to student teaching.
