Admission and Application Policies
Admission to Rockford University graduate programs requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution. Students can enroll in up to four required graduate courses before applying to the graduate programs. Applications for admission are evaluated individually on the following factors:
• Completed graduate application
• Official transcripts from all schools attended
• Undergraduate and (if appropriate) graduate grade point average (GPA)
For students who want to obtain an Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL), please see Master of Arts in Teaching section for additional requirements.
Admission to Rockford University is based on an evaluation of the above credentials, a paid, non-refundable application fee and the satisfactory completion of academic work in progress. Rockford University is on a rolling admission plan.
Withholding pertinent information to the application process, including but not limited to suspension or expulsion from college and/or criminal convictions, constitutes grounds for withdrawal, or dismissal without refund or notice.
Entrance Requirements for Graduate Students
Students must complete the relevant application for graduate studies. MBA students may take all prerequisite courses and up to four courses (12 credits) of required course work before completing the admission process into the graduate program. MAT and MEd students may take up to four courses (12 credits) of required course work before completing the graduate admission process. Any courses taken past this limit are not guaranteed to count toward the degree requirements. Students not admitted to either program are not eligible for financial aid.
Graduate Advisor
Upon completion of application and payment of the application fee, students have the opportunity of meeting with a faculty advisor.
Immunizations
Providing proof of current immunization is an Illinois state law that will effect a student’s ability to register for classes. Please refer to the University website for the immunization policy and complete compliance information (with printable forms). In addition, Lang Center for Health, Wellness, Counseling, and Disability Services provides tuberculosis screenings to students to assist with compliance of the requirements of specific programs including Nursing and Education.
