CRMJ 345 Introduction to Homeland Security

Whether responding to a terrorist threat, pandemic, or natural disaster, homeland security encompasses a broad range of agencies and practices. This course will examine the theoretical and practical aspects of homeland security. Students will learn the history of homeland security and emergency management and disaster preparedness and response, multi-agency approaches and coordination, public and private sector coordination, ethical, legal, and constitutional issues, policy implications, public communication coordination and strategies, infrastructure concerns, and societal resiliency. Students will participate in a homeland security simulation. PRQ (Pre-requisites): CRMJ 250, CRMJ/POLS/SOCI 295(students must earn grade of C- or above), or consent of instructor
