Academic Policies and Regulations for Graduate Programs

For more than 50 years, Rockford University has provided opportunities for graduate study. Our graduate programs offer a sound academic tradition that can be tailored to suit individual needs. Small classes and a professional, experienced and dedicated faculty in Business and Education provide our graduate students with a quality learning experience.

MBA
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree began in 1980 after extensive study of the needs of the Rockford-area business community. With these needs in mind, our MBA program has become a vital and integral part of both the community and the University. The MBA includes concentrations in Finance, Healthcare Administration, and Project Management, in addition to earning a general MBA. The department also offers a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.

MAT
Since 1952, the Rockford University Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree has established a proud tradition as a teacher of teachers. Our MAT graduates have distinguished themselves as educational leaders throughout the nation. The Education Department offers programs for students with or without their Professional Educator License (PEL) with tracks in Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary (Biology, Chemistry, English/Language Arts, History, Mathematics and Theater Arts), K-12 (P.E., Foreign Language, and Visual Arts), Middle Grades (Literacy, Mathematics, Social Science, and Science), and Special Education. Licensed teachers are able to earn the MAT in Bilingual, English-as-a-Second Language (ESL), Special Education, and Reading. A thesis option is also available for non-teaching degrees.

MEd
Rockford University also offers educators who are interested in pursuing instructional and administrative leadership roles the option to earn a Master of Education (MEd) in Pedagogical Practice. This degree offers theoretical coursework for teachers with ambitions beyond the classroom. Teachers can earn the MEd with no endorsement or choose from the following endorsement options: Bilingual, ESL, ESL/Bilingual, or Special Education.
