CLAS 260 Slavery in Ancient Greece and Rome
This course will focus on slavery in ancient Greece and Rome, including cultural differences between those two societies and within the cultures across time; interpreting ancient evidence; the roles of war, family, economics regarding ancient slavery; theoretical and legal issues; and the legacy of ancient slavery in subsequent societies. Students will gain basic knowledge of ancient Greek and Roman history.
