EDUC 500 Prac I: Intro to Teach and Learn

This introductory course examines concepts and principles that guide teaching and learning in contemporary education settings for students considering the teaching profession as a career. An overview of the Rockford University teacher education program expectations; the State of Illinois program and licensure requirements; and the impact of local, state, and national curricular learning standards, including Common Core, will be introduced. Students will observe and analyze curriculum, instruction, assessment, and classroom management in culturally/economically diverse classrooms. Requires a minimum of 30 hours working directly with grades 1-6 students and teachers to apply information and skills learned in the course to the elementary classroom setting.
