ENGL 556 Equity & Inclusion in the Writing Class

This course examines the contingencies of power in writing and the writing classroom from an anti-racist, anti-ableist, and intersectional feminist perspective. You will learn about efforts of contemporary composition scholarship to address bias and injustices based on social and political identities (including gender, sex, race, class, religion, and disability). You will also be invited to develop curricula, activities, and class policies centered on building an inclusive classroom that acknowledges and respects students’ diverse identities.
