SOCI 160 The Sociology of Extreme Deviant Behavior

This course focuses on the sociological study of extreme deviant behavior. Students will learn some of the key concepts and approaches used by sociologists to study deviant behavior, including stigma and social control. Students will explore sociological research findings regarding a variety of social phenomena viewed as extremely deviant by American society. From this examination of extreme deviance, students will be able to apply the sociological concepts and theories of deviance and social control to their own personal lives.
