EDEC 434 Early Childhood Education Capstone
(XL: EDEC 534)
This course provides a culminating instructional opportunity for students to integrate and apply research-based knowledge and best practice skills from their early childhood coursework in a capstone teaching experience. The capstone teaching project is built around the proposition that effective teaching is based on subject matter knowledge and effective pedagogy integration, knowledge of one's students, involvement of students in monitoring their own learning, reflection and action. Student-base evidence of the effect of instruction on student learning and the role of research and theory about how students learn are integral to the process. Synthesis of cumulative learning and application of knowledge will be emphasized. Process and development of a licensure practice portfolio will be completed. This course should be taken the semester prior to student teaching.
