HIST 355 European Culture Since the Enlightenment

This course explores cultural developments in Europe since the Enlightenment. Topics will include Enlightenment rationalism, romanticism, social Darwinism, nationalism, expressionism, futurism, surrealism, fascism, socialist realism, existentialism, feminisms, and anti- and post-colonialisms. We will place intellectual movements in the context of material, social, political, and economic contexts.

PRQ: 3 hours of history or consent of instructor.
