THEA 114 Acting for Non-Majors

This is a non-major class designed to introduce fundamental acting techniques to a student interested in performance, improving communication skills, and exploring the creative process in a variety of ways. Through theatre games, improvisations, rehearsals, presentations of assigned works, students will develop the actor's most valuable tools: self-confidence in the speaking voice, the body as the essential instrument, trust in the imagination, spontaneity, listening and responding truthfully under imaginary circumstances, and development of team building skills by working with an ensemble. The ultimate end of the course is for a student to embrace, trust, and celebrate their unique creative imagination.
