Lang Center for Health, Wellness, Counseling, and Disability Services
Immunizations
Lang Center is responsible for compliance of all state mandated vaccines which include diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella and can assist with acquiring the meningitis vaccination. The recommended hepatitis B and influenza vaccinations as well as tuberculosis screenings are also offered to assist students with compliance to the requirements of specific programs. Providing proof of immunizations is an Illinois state law and will impact a student’s ability to register for classes. The immunization policy and complete compliance information (with printable forms) are available on the University’s website.
Health and Counseling
Nurses are available to assist with access to treatment for minor illness and injury. A local family practice physician provides clinic hours one afternoon per week. Counselors are available at no charge to students to help with the many emotional and psychological issues that students may experience. Counseling is a confidential resource for students. The Lang Counselors work closely with community agencies and the University Title IX team to provide support for all students, faculty and staff when dealing with these issues.
Disability Support Services
Disability Support Services is committed to ensuring equitable access to a quality education for qualified students with disabilities through the provision of reasonable academic accommodations which support University standards and academic integrity. University policy provides for reasonable accommodations to be made for students with verified disabilities on an individualized and flexible basis as specified under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and the Amendment of 2008 (ADA and ADAAA).
DSS provides classroom accommodations to all students on campus who disclose a disability, request accommodations, and who meet eligibility criteria. We do not have specialized programs for specific types of disabilities.
Student Health Insurance
In order to attend Rockford University, we require all full time students, residential students, students participating in intercollegiate athletics, international students and students participating in nursing or education programs, as well as any other program that has site requirements, to have health insurance.
Currently, we have a mandatory with waiver system which means that the insurance charge remains on your student account until you have met the insurance requirement – either by enrolling in the student plan or providing proof of comparable insurance by completing the insurance waiver. Waivers and enrollments must be submitted, by the deadline, your first semester at Rockford University and every fall semester thereafter.
