HIST 500 Historiography
This course focuses on primary source analysis, engagement with historiography, construction of argument as part of a historical conversation, as well as the mechanics and structure of a historical essay. Students will read and respond to a variety of texts. Topics will range across US and world history, as examples of kinds of historical sources. Student will also develop a historical essay on a topic of the student’s choosing. The purpose of this assignment is to develop more fully command of historiographical approaches and methods.
