THEA 152 Film Appreciation

Film Appreciation is an introductory course designed to enhance students' understanding and enjoyment of cinema as both an art form and a cultural phenomenon. Through a blend of film screenings, readings, discussions, and weekly critiques, students will explore the essential elements of film, including narrative structure, cinematography, design, editing, and performance. This course delves into some of the history of film, focusing on key movements, genres, and influential directors from both classic and contemporary cinema. Students will learn how to analyze films critically, examining how storytelling techniques, visual composition, and technical aspects contribute to the overall impact of a movie.
