PSYC 300 Research Methods in Psychological Scienc
Psychological science as a method for understanding mental activity and human behavior requires critical analysis of research as both a consumer and a producer. Students will acquire in-depth knowledge of common research methods used in psychological sciences, understanding of common problems in research design, and the ability to design and implement empirical research based on their own interests and questions. The course emphasizes critical analysis of research in both the media and peer-reviewed articles, ethical practices in human participants research, and communication via scientific writing and collaboration with peers. Students will receive additional training in laboratory techniques, statistical methods, and manuscript preparation.
PRQ: PSYC 100, 200, and MATH 224 or MATH 223 (students must earn a grade of C- or above); PSYC 226 (may be taken concurrently.)
