BIOL 105 Earth Systems Science

Students will study the major earth systems (lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere) to understand how they work and how they interact with one another. Topics will include the geologic and biological history of the earth, basic ecology, human impacts on the environment, plate tectonics, climate and weather, and how we understand our planet through scientific methods. Weekly labs will include visits to local museums and nature centers to engage these ideas using hands-on activities. This course is intended primarily for non-majors and is specifically designed to meet the state standards for students preparing for K-12 education careers.
