EDSL 574 Multicultural Children's Literature

This course is an evaluation and critical analysis of multicultural children's literature. Students will explore how contemporary issues are addressed in literature for children and young adults, particularly marginalization, gender and social inequity, racism, censorship, and stereotyping of various population groups. Guidelines for selecting and evaluating the authenticity and literary quality of multicultural literature for children and young adults will also be explored.
