EDEC 365 Guiding Young Children Social Dev. Behavior

This course explores the role of the early childhood teacher candidate in creating supportive relationships to foster emotional, social and behavioral development of young children birth through age seven. Strategies for encouraging prosocial behavior, conflict resolution, and problem solving will be addressed. Developing a positive learning environment which includes cultural responsiveness, effective procedures, routines and daily structure will be practiced in order to understand the process of fostering a safe and caring sense of community in a variety of settings. Theory and research, both current and historical will be examined to support social, emotional and behavioral development and learning in young children.
