HIST 571 Turning Points in US History
The US historical record is replete with turning points when events changed direction in ways that left a lasting legacy and marked the beginning or end of something. Looking at some of these moments in time from among the rich record of social, cultural, diplomatic, economic, political, etc. events in America’s past, will help clarify and explain what led the nation to today. Starting in the 17th and ending in the 21st century, the class will explore moments that have influenced the evolution of US society in terms of politics, economics, racial and gender relations, and more. Students will be able to explore areas of greatest interest to them within the framework of examining and identifying significant turning points in US history.
