EDUC 300 Prac I: Intro to Teach and Learn
(XL EDUC 500) This introductory course examines concepts and principles that guide teaching and learning in contemporary education settings for students considering the teaching profession as a career. An overview of the Rockford University teacher education program expectations; the State of Illinois program and licensure requirements; and the impact of local, state, and national curricular learning standards, including Common Core, will be introduced. Students will observe and analyze curriculum, instruction, assessment, and classroom management in culturally/economically diverse classrooms. Requires a minimum of 30 hours working directly with grades 1-6 students and teachers to apply information and skills learned in the course to the elementary classroom setting.
