BIOL 140 Concepts in Life Science
An introduction to basic principles of biology at the cellular and molecular levels of biological organization. This course will introduce students to a wide variety of topics on a basic level. Topics covered will include: biochemistry, cell biology, metabolism, genetics, molecular biology, an introduction to evolutionary theory, and several popular topics in biology, such as viruses, cancer, and gene editing. Laboratory sessions will focus on hypothesis development and testing within the context of the material covered in lecture. This course is designed specifically for non-biology majors, and is recommended for fulfillment of the education standards for a life science course. This course will not count toward the biology major or minor.
