Rockford University offers its students semester-long study abroad opportunities at Regent’s University, London, England; Kobe College Learning Abroad Scholarship Exchange Opportunity; University of Skövde, Skövde, Sweden; and Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Spain. In addition, short-term study abroad opportunities also exist in a variety of courses from the College of Arts and Humanities. In recent years, students and faculty have travelled and studied in Madrid, Spain, Paris, France, Rome, Italy, and Santiago, Chile. Short-term courses vary from year to year.
Regent’s University London
For more than 20 years, Rockford University has offered its students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study at one of the most beautiful international settings in higher education. Students who wish to study at Regent’s University London must submit an application, which is available at the Office of Global Affairs (OGA).
Applicants with a minimum 2.5 GPA may apply to attend Regent’s for a semester during their junior or senior year. Rockford University nominates one student per semester or two students per year to attend Regent’s University. In cases when there are more applicants than availability, Rockford University will convene a committee to select one nominee per semester or two nominees per academic year to attend Regents. Please note that applying and meeting the criteria to be eligible to study at Regent’s University does not guarantee that you will be nominated to study at Regents.
Applicants should determine, in consultation with their Academic Advisor, which semester and year of attendance at Regent’s would be most appropriate for their declared major(s). Selection is highly competitive and is based on a combination of academic achievement, academic plan, letters of recommendation, and demonstrated maturity and motivation for extended study abroad. Following acceptance into the Regent’s program, students are required to pay a deposit to reserve housing space and to attend the pre-departure orientation program to prepare for living and studying in London.
Study at Regent’s University London in England offers students a unique international focus to their normal course of study. Students who attend Regent’s University will, in consultation with their Rockford University Advisor, select eight classes in which they want to enroll. Regent’s will enroll students in five total classes based on availability.
The Regent’s University London Academic Calendar is designed to coincide with the U.S. undergraduate semester system, but contains slightly different beginning, mid-term break, and ending dates than Rockford University.
