CRMJ 340 Media, Crime, & Criminal Justice
This course critically examines the interrelations between criminal justice, crime, and the mass media. The course will study representations of crime and the justice system within such media as news, television, and movies. Depictions of crime, victims, offenders, and the criminal justice system are examined, exploring how the media presents, distorts, and/or filters this information. Connections between the mass media and crime, culture, politics, society, and individual behavior will be given special attention.
