EDEC 363 Methods for Infants Toddlers & YC

(XL: SPED 363; EDEC 563 / SPED 563)   Developmentally and individually appropriate methods to support social, emotional, communication, cognitive, adaptive, and motor development and learning in young children with special needs in a variety of settings, including the home, school and community are addressed. Curriculum, instructional methods and materials are examined and developed. Students will gain an understanding of the relationship between instructional methods and current issues including compliance with relevant legislation, IEPs/IFSPs, Response to Intervention (RTI), accommodations and modifications including such things as assistive technology, developmentally appropriate play and family-centered programming. This course should not be taken prior to junior year.
