SWRK 410 Field Instruction I

Field Instruction I bridges the gap between social work theory and practical application. This course provides students with an immersive experience in a social work field placement, where they will apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings under the supervision of experienced practitioners. Students will engage in a variety of field activities, including direct client interaction, case management, and community engagement, tailored to their specific interests and professional goals. Emphasis will be placed on developing essential skills such as assessment, intervention planning, and reflective practice, as well as understanding the ethical and cultural considerations inherent in social work. Throughout the semester, students will participate in regular supervision meetings with their field instructors and attend weekly seminar sessions to discuss experiences, challenges, and insights gained from their placements and enhance critical thinking skills and identity as a social worker.
