Social Work Practice I equips students with fundamental skills and knowledge essential for effective social work practice. Focusing on the micro level, this course emphasizes engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation with individuals and families. Students will learn to apply social work theories and methods in diverse contexts, promoting well-being and social change. Key topics include:

- Foundational Skills: Development of core social work skills, including active listening, empathy, communication, and critical thinking, crucial for building rapport and trust with clients.

- Engagement Techniques: Strategies for effectively engaging clients and establishing collaborative relationships, while respecting client autonomy and cultural diversity.

- Assessment Frameworks: Introduction to various assessment tools and frameworks that guide the understanding of clients’ needs, strengths, and challenges.

- Intervention Strategies: Overview of evidence-based intervention strategies that address common social issues, including mental health, substance abuse, and family dynamics.

- Ethical Practice: Examination of ethical considerations and professional standards in social work, including confidentiality, informed consent, and cultural competence.
