EDRD 510 Literacy Mtds & Rdg Instruction: Interme

XL: EDRD 310 This course examines the theories and foundations of literacy development in the intermediate grades. This course provide students with the understanding of reading and writing as integrated processes. Students will learn developmentally appropriate techniques and methods in literacy instruction for diverse populations at the intermediate level, with special consideration for English language learners and struggling readers. Topics will include word recognition, comprehension, vocabulary development, children’s literature, writing instruction, grammar and spelling, and student motivation and engagement. PRQ: Passing score on the Illinois Basic Skills Exam or the Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP) or the ACT Plus Writing/SAT composite. Scheduled: Fall yearly
