ANSO 303 The Family

The study of the family as the basic social institution and its important functions of procreation and socialization. Emphasis on the permanence and pervasiveness of this social institution and the fact that there is no human society in which some form of the family does not appear; nor, so far as we know, has there ever been such a society. Cross-cultural description and analysis of family forms; major focus on the family in the United States. PRQ: ANSO 100 or 150, ANSO 295, or consent of instructor.
