XL: SPED 538 This course focuses upon the psychology, the identification, and curricula, methods, and materials of instruction as they relate to teaching elementary-aged students with disabilities. Teacher candidates will understand the impact that disabilities have on the cognitive, physical, emotional, social and communication development of the individual and learn to provide opportunities that support the intellectual, social and personal development of all students; how students differ in their approaches to learning, and design, deliver and evaluate instruction based on knowledge of the discipline, students, community and curriculum goals that are adapted for exceptional learners.
PRQ: Passing score on the Illinois Basic Skills Exam or the Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP) or the ACT Plus Writing/SAT composite.
