Biochemistry Program
Biochemistry is an interdisciplinary major intended for students interested in areas close to the interface between biology and chemistry such as bioinformatics, biotechnology, biophysics, genetics, neurobiology, immunology, toxicology, endocrinology and pharmacology. Our Biochemistry degree is rigorous with a solid foundation of science courses, a number of upper-level courses in chemistry, biology, and biochemistry, and a research-like investigative laboratory curriculum including a capstone experience. The Biochemistry major also covers the majority of prerequisites for entrance into graduate school or health-related professional programs including: medical school, dental school and veterinary school. Interested students also have the option of pursuing a Biochemistry degree certified by the American Chemical Society.
Note: Students majoring in Biochemistry may not also major or minor in Chemistry or Biology.
