Accounting Major, B.A. or B.S.

The Puri School of Business Accounting major combines up-to-date knowledge in accounting, taxation, and data analytics with professional competencies in critical thinking, communication, leadership, and strategic decision-making. Accounting majors will study the principles, concepts, and methods used to record and report the transactions and activities of an organization, as well as the tools and processes to audit and analyze accounting information. Career opportunities for accounting majors include positions in auditing firms, corporate accounting, taxation, consulting and advisory services, and in governmental and not-for-profit entities.
In addition to the accounting major requirements, students in this major must meet the University General Education requirements and the Required Business Core course requirements.
Note: For a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with a major in accounting, students must take at least five accounting courses (20 hours), at Rockford University. Students who pursue double majors in Puri School of Business-offered fields may not present a 300- or 400-level course in these fields for credit toward more than one of the majors. Students may not major in multiple Puri School of Business-offered fields.
