XL: SPED 539 This course focuses on the psychology, identification, legal guidelines, curricular methods, strategies, and behavioral supports for students with disabilities for middle level, high school, and K-12 content specialist teachers. Topics include the effect of disabilities on academic/social/behavioral development; differences in approaches to learning; the development of instructional opportunities for students with special needs; and how the knowledge of the discipline, students, and community and curriculum goals informs the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of instruction. PRQ: Passing score on the Illinois Basic Skills Exam or the Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP) or the ACT Plus Writing/SAT composite. Scheduled: Fall and spring, yearly. Meets: NO
